Maintaining the outside of your home

Maintaining the outside of your home

Monthly

  • Cut back your landscaping. Overgrown landscaping can damage the exterior of your siding. Prevent this by cutting back any shrubs, plants and trees that make contact with the exterior. This will prevent peeling paint, scratches and mildew caused by moisture.

Quarterly

  • Remove mildew on siding. A humid climate or lack of direct sunlight can cause mildew. Spray the affected area with a power washer and then clean the area with a mixture of bleach and water. Repeat the process over until clean.

Annually

  • Inspect the exterior of your home. Is any paint chipping? Is any siding damaged? Are there any holes in your brick? Take a close look all around your house, and make any repairs as needed. Also be sure to check the foundation for any cracks.

This is not a complete list of all the things you can do for your home.

Do what works for you and your schedule.
