The Elephant Coast is an eco-tourist paradise and includes Hluhluwe iMfolozi, Africa's oldest game reserve and once the royal hunting ground of King Shaka. It is teeming with wildlife including the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and cheetah). This reserve is also credited with ensuring the survival of the white rhino, once a seriously endangered species.
Bird watchers can revel in the more than 600 recorded species which occur in two or more reserves, Ndumo and Mkhuze.
